Scholas is a nonprofit founded by Pope Francis that focuses on empowering youth to share their ideas, connect, and become engaged citizens in their communities in hopes of creating positive change. Through group experiences and workshops, youth from diverse backgrounds, identities, and beliefs come together to discuss what is most important to them from their perspective. In Los Angeles, Scholas ambassadors have founded the Scholas clubs in their local high school communities to create spaces of youth empowerment. Currently Bridget Nunez ‘25 is leading the Scholas club at Sacred Heart High School as the President alongside the board members, Isabella, Hailyn, Isabella, and Angie. The club has expanded from 10 members to about 30 active members within the span of a year.

A year ago, Bridget represented Scholas USA, Los Angeles in Rome and met Pope Francis. This year Ruby Santa Cruz ‘28, was selected to attend a Scholas Experience in Rome, Italy, where she connected with youth from all over the world! She traveled with four other peers from Bishop Mora Salesian High School and Bishop Conaty. Luckily, Ruby was able to see the new Pope Leo XIV who is continuing Pope Francis legacy in supporting our youth through Scholas.
