hike

The Mental Conditioning classes have various Immersive Experiences that give them the opportunity to participate in activities they may not otherwise experience. As for this Immersive Experience, the classes went for a little physical activity - hiking up to Griffith Observatory. However, this was no ordinary, 1.5-mile round trip hike up to Griffith Park and back. It was to talk and get to know another Comet. Here's what students had to share about their experience.

"If you're surrounded by enthusiastic people you're going to have fun…You can cleanse your mind with just taking a hike" - Sophomore Comet

"The Hike was challenging for me because I am one to stop and take a break but my partner pushed me to keep going forward and to not stop…I was able to bond with more of my classmates and have an experience I wouldn't have ever had if it wasn't for this class" - Junior Comet

"Going on this Immersive Experience had a positive impact on me because I realized how close I can get to someone. Being with a group of people that had the same goal as me was inspiring because I was around a group of people that was seeking to grow as people." - Senior Comet

"The whole experience was such an amazing thing to be a part of. I really enjoyed being able to connect with a person I don't talk to often. It was fun to see how much in common we had. I was scared at first that it may have been awkward, but when you're forced to hike uphill, it creates a good bond. The view was also very lovely, it's something that you really can't compare to a photo and I'm glad I was able to have that opportunity to experience it." - Senior Comet
